PATHS, WALKING AND GR 11 (GREAT ROUTE 11) TO THE CAP DE CREUS

El Port de la Selva-Cap de Creus- Cadaqués

  • From Port de la Selva to Cap de Creus: One way: 4h | 15km (9 miles)| GR-11
    The journey begins in El Port de la Selva and follows the route of the GR-11, this path crosses the Pyrenees from west to east Pyrenees. (From Cape Higuer in the Basque Country to Cape Creus in Catalonia). All the route is marked by red and white markings.
    In El Port de la Selva village you find a path that will lead you to Cap de Creus through the ruins of Sant Baldiri, Cala Taballera, Mas de la Birba, Cala Prana or Over Rabassers de Dalt.
  • Cap de Creus to Cadaques: One Way: 2h.30m | 8km (4 miles) | sign posted itinerary.
    From the Cap de Creus, follow the “Ronda Road” to Cadaqués, going through Portlligat, a pristine coastal area where you find the house of Salvador Dali, where he lived for a long period of his life.
    The trail is well marked, has good views and is fairly even.

El Port de la Selva-Monasterio de Sant Pere de Rodes-Selva de Mar

  • From Port de la Selva to Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery One Way: 2h | Marked path
    There are several options to make the ascent on foot to the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes although the most recommended for comfort and security is one which ascends Sant Jaume path. We leave Port de la Selva towards Llança until you find the signs to Sant Jaume which is the traditional religious path. You will get to the monastery in about 2 hours but if you want you can drive to Vall de Santa Creu and walk to the monastery for 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • From Sant Pere Monastery to Selva de Mar and to Port de la Selva
    This is a route through the nature park where you will get to the small town of Selva de Mar. The trip downhill stretch can be performed as described in the GR-11.

Cadaqués- El Port de la Selva

  • From Cadaques to Port de la Selva:One Way: 3h | 12 km (7 miles) | GR-92 
    From Cadaqués to El Port de la Selva you can go in another trail which is the GR-92. Then after 12 km you can find the highest point at Mas dels Bufadors 300 m. above sea level and from this point begins the long descent to the El Port de la Selva.

De El Port de la Selva a LLança by “Ronda Road”. Alt Empordà

  • From El Port de la Selva to Llança: One way: 9 km (5 miles) |Time: 2h | Marked path
    The “Camino de Ronda” joins El Port de La Selva with Llança in a simple promenade walking, running or biking. You will find lookouts where you can enjoy the coast and coves which are all very accessible. It is a highly recommended tour because of the tranquility and beauty of the area.
